On July 17th, 1884, Giuseppe (Joseph) Sciallo was born in Italy.
Later he became involved with the Italian military.
But when he came to America, he like many foreigners’ names,
was misspelled (Scialla) as noted above.
This was because the immigrants were rushed through and asked to state their names.
The subscribes just wrote down what they heard, not asking for the correct spelling.
Most of the immigrants spoke no English, or wrote English so they
didn't know if their names were being spelled correctly.
And later to become Giuseppe’s wife was Antonia Bruno Sciallo (1892).
Again, we only know Antonia's mother's name as Gila Bruno, and not her
father's name due to records lost when the people immigrated.
Giuseppe and Antonia had 14 children, but we have only been able to
trace down 13, and the 14th child, which sadly died of unknown causes,
is a mystery and the oldest. The couple also had a set of twins who died at birth,
and one of the last pair of twins at the age of two. The 13th child was
my great grand mother, Anna Sciallo, born on April 20,1914.
She later married Vito (William) Bianco and had my grandmother,
Girolama (Jean) Bianco Stammetti
and Antoinette (Annette) Bianco Coleman.
